Get To Know Me Tag! ♥

Hello Beauties!

To be honest I had some writer's block, but wanted to put up a post! I've been consistent with my posting so I wanted to stick with it! I decided I wanted to do some kind "get to know me tag", so I googled that and found a few, but this one was one I really liked! I found it on the blog Beauty Broadcast. I read through her tag and loved it! Then after I read that...I got sucked in! :) If you've never read her blog or seen any of her videos on her YouTube channel, you need to!!!! I literally read her blog posts for two hours straight when I found it and then subscribed to it! Go check it out! 

So...on to the tag! Hope you enjoy! :)

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?

My hair is naturally wavy. I rarely wear it like that because if I let it air dry it turns into a lion's mane! It's poofy and frizzy and just crazy! But, the longer it get's the less wild it is, which is nice! 

2. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?

I have only gone to the salon once to get it colored. Other than that, I have done it myself once, but I usually have a friend or family member do it for (especially since I've had highlights). 

3. Do you wear the same style everyday, or do you change it?

When I was younger I used to wear it the same every day, but not I change it up every day. One day it's in a fishtail braid, the next it's straight, the next it's in a messy bun, etc. 

4. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?

I've only ever gone to a salon a handful of times. I enjoy doing my own nails, it is very relaxing to me. Plus, I've been painting my nails since I can remember and not to toot my own horn or anything, but I feel like I can do just as great a job, if not better, than someone at a salon. Also, I'm cheap when it comes to that and rather not pay an arm and a leg for something that doesn't last that long! 

5. How often do you change your nail polish?

I change my nail polish every couple of days. Although, the last few months I have been kind of lazy when it comes to my nails. I haven't made much time for them, I'm going through a phase where they just really get on my nerves and have been cutting them super short and not wearing much polish. But now that fall is coming I may just get back into it because I love me some dark fall nail polish! :) 

6. Do you polish your toes in the winter or just the summer?

I do polish my toes in the winter, but definitely not as much, honestly probably only once a month. It's not as important to me because people aren't going to be staring at my toes, but I do like them to be polished.

7. How long does it take for you to put on makeup?

Honestly, it depends what I'm wearing. If I'm putting a full face of makeup on, I give myself about 30 minutes. If I'm only wearing eye makeup and some face powder, about 5-10 minutes. 

8. What do you do first? Face or eyes?

I always do my face first. I'm not sure why, but that's just the way it happens! I think I like to see a nice even toned canvas so I can get the full effect of how my eye makeup will look! Side note: I also do my hair before my makeup, especially when using hot tools because I often sweat when I straighten or curl my hair! lol! I don't want my makeup being ruined before I step out of my house! :)

9. Do you collect makeup or just buy what you need when you need it?

I definitely collect it! I try to only buy when I need something, but honestly it's so hard to do that! I have no control when I see something pretty!!!!

10. How often do you wear false eyelashes?

Never! The only time I ever wore false lashes was a couple years ago for Halloween. False lashes are something I'm kind of afraid to attempt to be honest. Plus, for the most part, I like my lashes. I have a few pairs of false lashes, but I just haven't tried them. One day I will though!

11. Do you do a full face of makeup everyday?

Nope! I do a full face of makeup when I go out (which is not too often anymore) and sometimes for work. Lately though, I haven't been wearing it to work. A couple weeks ago I was sick and blowing my nose every 5 seconds {yes, that's kind of an exaggeration! ;) }, but then I got lazy and haven't been feeling like wearing a full face. I haven't been wearing concealer to cover my dark circles or blemishes!

12. Do you wear makeup when you're home alone or with family?

When I'm home alone I don't wear makeup. Depending on what I'm doing with my family I usually wear eye liner and mascara. Just simple. Not trying to impress anyone, but I just feel more myself when I have some makeup on, especially mascara!

13. Will you leave the house without makeup?

I will, but I don't like to. Especially if I know there's a chance I'm going to run into someone I know! I usually at least wear mascara!! 

14. How many high-end products do you have?

I've never actually counted, but over the last year I have acquired quite a bit, whether I bought it or received it as gifts from family and friends. I definitely have more drugstore products though! I feel like the drugstore has some really great products, some that are even better than high-end products! I'm also one that doesn't like to spend too much on certain things, but I have been guilty of that lately (one word: MAC)! But I'm not going to get into that right now ;)

15. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you're getting dressed?

I usually decided while I'm getting dressed. Unless I know I'm going to be getting up early or be rushed to go somewhere, then I'll plan those outfits out. I am a planner when it comes to most things, but with clothes it's different. I'll pick out an outfit for the next day and when I go to put it on it makes me feel fat  or I'm just not liking it...which then puts me in a bad mood lol so planning my outfits don't usually turn out well!

16. How often do you change your handbag?

Not very often! I'm not super into handbags. I don't like to spend a lot on them, I just like one that looks cute, holds the things I need and is comfortable to wear (I'm obsessed with cross body bags).  

17. What time do you wake up and go to sleep?

It varies every day. I work part time so it just depends what time I'm scheduled to work. But I usually go to bed between midnight and one. I usually wake up between nine and ten. But as I said, it all depends!

18. How often or when do you workout?

Ha! That's funny! I couldn't tell you the last time I worked out! I need to work out, but honestly, I'm lazy and hate it! It's actually crazy to me that I hate it because I used to be an athlete and in such good shape, but going to college and not playing sports really messed that up! I try to work out, but I never stick to it! I'm sure one day I'll get into it (maybe)!  

19. Left handed or right handed?

20. How tall are you?

5'4" 

21. Do you speak any foreign languages?

I speak a little bit of French. I took it all through middle school and high school and a semester my freshmen year of college, so it's been a few years! I definitely have lost a lot of it, but I can understand better than I can speak it! 

22. How many pets do you have?

Well, my brother moved back home a couple months ago and he has a cat..does that count?! I am obsessed with this cat, by the way. He's honestly the coolest cat ever. I used to hate cats, but this one (Gizmo), made me love cats. I'm going to be one of those crazy cat ladies..not even lying!! But anyway, I would love a dog! 

23. How often are you on Blogger?

Not every day, but a couple times a week. I try to post at least two posts a week, so between writing those and reading other blogs, probably 4-5 days a week.  

24. Do you read comments posted on blogs?

Sometimes. If it's a post I'm really interested in I may read comments people posted, but not usually. I do read all comments here on my blog though! :)

25. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?

I do keep a list of things I'd like to try in my head. I usually forget what they are though so sometimes I try to put it on my phone. 

26. How did you come up with your blog name?

Well my first name is Sarah and Mac is part of my last name. And when I was little my cousins used to call me Sarah Mac, so it's kind of a nickname. 

27. What kind of camera do you use for your photographs?

I use a Canon PowerShot SD780 IS.  

28. How often do you clean your house?

Well seeing as though I still live with my parents, I don't clean my room too often :/ but I try to help my mom out every once in a while by vacuuming or doing dishes and things like that

29. What's your favorite color?

Purple! I'm obsessed with it. Sometimes I feel like I'm an eight year old girl obsessed with purple! Haha! If it's purple I want it!!! 

30. Do you swear?

Sometimes. Not as often as I used to though!

31. What are you doing with the rest of your day?

Going grocery shopping, I suppose I should clean my room and then I will be going to work! Trying to make it a productive day! :)

Mascara Mondays: Benefit They're Real!

I'm super excited about this one because I have been wanting to try this mascara for so long!!!! My birthday was August 31st and for Beauty Insiders at Sephora you get a free birthday gift. Mine was a little set from Benefit. It came with They're Real mascara and Watt's Up highlighter. I've been wanting to try it but never really wanted to spend the money on the full size and never wanted any of the sets it comes with, so super excited for this mascara!

 I really like this mascara! I think it does a great job lengthening and adding volume. I might only do two applications. I just like to test three applications just to see how it would look. I must say I was a little disappointed when I opened it to see this wand. I guess I wasn't aware what kind of wand it had. These wands always poke me in the eye!!!! Lol, but I'll get over it! Other than not liking the wand, I don't have anything bad to say! This mascara could be a great contender for my next favorite mascara! I like how it instantly makes it's presence known! You don't need a lot for it to make your eyelashes look nice! Depending on what other mascaras I try out, I may end up buying the full size of it!

♥ August Favorites! ♥

I can't believe August is over!!! So crazy!! I know I haven't done a favorites in a while so I decided it's time to do one! Let's just get right into it!

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream...I absolutely love this! I have been using this BB cream since last summer! I know most girls use bb creams during the summer for a light weight option, but honestly I use this year round because I don't like anything to heavy on my face. I hate the feeling of something being on my face and with this bb cream I can't even tell anything is there! During the winter I'm in the lightest color, Light Sheer Tint, but during the summer when I have {a little} color (I don't really get tan..I'm Irish and very fair skinned, so my tan is some people's pale!) I mix the light color and the Medium Sheer Tint. It is the perfect color for my skin! You don't really need to set a bb cream, but I always do to make sure it stays put!

Which leads me to my next favorite...

Maybelline Dream Matte Powder. My favorite powder of all time! I use the color Sand Medium 0-1. It barely shows any color so it's perfect to set my bb cream, but also if I need just a tad bit of color it's just enough! During the winter it adds just enough color so I don't look too ghostly! I use it to set my bb cream, but I also wear it alone if I don't feel like putting any bb cream or foundation. It is a matte powder which I love. Don't get me wrong...I love me some shimmer, but there's a time and a place for that, and shimmer all over your face during the day at work is not that time! But anyway..I have been using this powder for a few years now and I don't think I will ever try another powder because I love this one that much!

When I was in North Carolina I went to MAC and bought a blush (if you read my high end haul post). It is a mineralized blush in the color Dainty. I am OBSESSED with this blush. For one, it is an absolutely beautiful color! I have been using this every day since I purchased it! I am in love and now I really want to try more MAC blushes...this started a bad addiction!!!!!! But definitely worth it! :)

Speaking of MAC...if you have not tried any of their pressed pigments...you NEED to!!! A couple weeks ago I went to The Cosmetic Company Store at the outlets near me. If you have never been to one they have MAC products, Smashbox, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Estee Lauder and a few others. Of course I B-line for the MAC  section! I was looking around at everything they had, but I was looking for something specific, and then my eyes landed on the couple pressed pigments that were there. There was something about the color Day Gleam that I could not keep my eyes off. Now, I don't normally wear golds, but OMG I HAD to have it!!!!!! It is such a beautiful color..I could literally stare at it all day. I'm not even joking. I have been wearing it just about every day for the last few weeks since I've had it. I seriously cannot get enough of it! I spray my [flat brush] with my Urban Decay All Nighter Spray to help make it more pigmented and to help keep it on for longer. That's all I've been using, no other shadow. If you follow me on Instagram you've seen a picture of me wearing it. I seriously want like every color in the pressed pigments. They are just absolutely gorgeous. I could go on and on, but I think I'm going to stop here! :)

I also do not go a day {when I wear makeup} without using my Urban Decay All Nighter Spray. I really do feel that it makes my makeup last longer. I'm not sure how it compares to other setting sprays because this is the only one I've ever used. Although, I did use Fix+ when I was at Stacie's and I didn't really like how it applied...it was a very strong spray compared to the All Nighter which applies almost like a mist. But I really do love this setting spray and will repurchase it when I am out.

I have been obsessed with lip products lately! My favorites lately and most go-to products have been MAC Japanese Maple, a cremesheen; Revlon Lip Butter in Sorbet; NYX Butter Gloss in Vanilla Cream Pie; and Maybelline baby lips in Strike a Rose; I love all of these lip colors! I have been mixing and matching all of these! They are definitely great products that I will most likely use year round. The Japanese Maple also makes me want another lipstick. I'm telling you MAC is addicting!!!!!!! It's not good for my bank account! :-/

Mascara Mondays: Maybelline The Falsies BIG EYES

As you all know by now I love me some Maybelline mascara so I was super excited to try this one out!!!! It has two wands...one to "life upper lashes" and one to "magnify lower lashes". It never really bothered me to use a big mascara wand for my bottom lashes, but it is nice to have a smaller wand, especially on those days where you make a mess!!! So right off the start I liked that it has the two different size wands! I'm a huge fan of the falsies mascara so I hoped that it would be just like that one! It is basically the same formula, but this wand doesn't have that curve that the regular falsies mascara wand has...that doesn't bother me, I like both wands!!

I do have to say that I've noticed lately that my eye lashes are ridiculously long! I think they've been growing...it may be from Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara. I've heard that it makes your lashes grow?! Not sure if that is absolutely true, but I can say that my lashes are definitely a little longer. I've used that Tarte Mascara for the last, maybe, 6ish months? Not really sure.

But anyway.....so I noticed my eyelashes are much longer. Which I believe is the culprit for why they are so crazy and hard to control!!!!! When I applied the first coat I fell in love! I felt this was going to be  my new favorite mascara.

I applied the second coat...that's when I noticed how long my lashes were. They were almost sticking straight out....no curl to them. I did not curl them at all, I like to show how much of a curl the mascara can give.

I applied the third coat and decided that was definitely enough and it was almost clumpy, so I'm definitely sticking with only two coats of this mascara.

I LOVED the way the wand covered the bottom lashes. With it being so small, it made it easy to cover each individual lash....and no mess!!! :)

I do definitely like this mascara, but you just have to be careful about how many coats you put on. That's the only think I don't like...I'm a mascara junkie so of course I like to apply insane amounts of mascara! ;) But I do think this is a great purchase, especially if you like the regular falsies mascara!!!

Lush Review

I had been wanting to try Lush products for probably the last year. The closest store to me is an hour away, and I just never wanted to make that trip. Back in May I went to Atlantic City with one of my best friends. They have outlet shops on the boardwalk and one of the stores is Lush!!! I was very excited to find this out!! As soon as I saw it I dragged my friend in there! lol! We spent a good amount of time just looking at everything and trying different products out. I went in looking for some hair products. Due to coloring and putting heating tools on my hair, it is super dry and damaged so I was looking for something to help with that. I purchased to two items.

Lush Shampoo Bar--Godiva; $11.95

 A shampoo bar in Godiva. OMG! This smells soooo good I could eat it! Delicious! It is a conditioning shampoo and has jasmine and shea butter. I absolutely love this shampoo. First, it makes my hair smell sooo good! I end up just smelling my hair all day long when I use it! :) but it has helped condition and soften my hair. They do have other scents that do other things, such as one that helps oily hair and greasy scalps. I will definitely be repurchasing this product and perhaps try out a different one too!

Lush American Cream Hair Conditioner--8.4 fl. oz.; $19.95

The second item I purchased was American Cream Hair Conditioner. On the bottle is says "have the flowing, shiny locks you've always dreamt of with this strawberry vanilla milkshake conditioner". It definitely smells like a strawberry vanilla milkshake!!! This conditioner helps soften and smooth ends. It definitely does that!!!

I always use these two together and what a great team they make! My hair is always super soft and smells delicious. I will definitely be purchasing these two products again!

If you haven't tried any Lush products you definitely should!!

Mascara Mondays: Revlon Lash Potion

Lately I have not been happy with the way my eyelashes have been looking. They have been looking crazyyy!!!!! Nothing I seem to do can make them look nice again...if I curl them they somehow don't come out right, if I don't curl them I get a few going in every which way! SO ANNOYING! I'm not sure if it's the mascaras I have been using or not.....so I'm looking for new ones!!

Over the last few months I have purchased so many new mascaras it's not even funny! So on every Monday I'm going to be doing a review (and some will be first impressions) on a new mascara until I find my perfect one...or two, or three...you know how much I love using mascara! :)

The first culprit (if you couldn't tell by the title) Revlon Lash Potion. I have been using this and trying it out since I got home from North Carolina. So I've had a few weeks to check it out.

First off, I love the packaging! Second, I like the brush. I like that it's bigger. It has three sections to it. Apparently the three section wand is supposed to make it clump free...if you can see, even in the second application, it's starting to clump. That bothers me. I HATE clumpy lashes. I like when you can see each and every lash individually, not chunks of eye lashes. So three applications is probably too much, I would stop at two.

It does provide a little volume and length like it claims, but nothing special. I do like how it looks on my bottoms lashes though!

Honestly, I don't have too much to say about it. It isn't anything special, just another plain old mascara. I'll continue to use it because I don't like to let any mascara go to waste, but I won't be repurchasing it.

Overall I give this mascara a B -- there isn't really anything bad about it, except that it clumps, but that is most mascaras; but I don't find anything special about it either.

Nail Polish Holder!

When I was in North Carolina we went to the Container Store. I have always wanted to go but there isn't one near me, so as soon as I saw that there was one, we had to go!!!!!  As we were walking around I was drooling over all of the cool things for organization they have! I knew I couldn't really buy anything because of traveling but one thing that caught my eye was a nail polish holder! I ended up buying it because it was on sale! I couldn't resist! :)

I wasn't sure what nail polish I was going to put in it...and then it came to me! I was going to put all my Essie nail polish in it and display it on my vanity! It holds 12 polishes. When I bought it I only had 10 polishes though, so over the last few weeks I managed to by 2 more! :)

I absolutely love it displayed on my vanity like that! Makes me want a lipstick holder like that too! I hope you like it just as much as I do! If you have any questions please ask!

I ♥ Summer Tag

One of the blogs I read is The Cherry Beauty Blog. She has greats posts on her blog and on her Instagram (@cherrybeautyblog)! You should go check out both! One of her recent posts was the I Heart Summer Tag, so when I saw it I decided to do it myself!


1. What is your favorite bronzer for summer?

To be honest, I haven't really been using bronzer that much this summer. When I do use it, I have been using Benefit's Hoola Bronzer.


2. Relaxing in a hammock, on a tropical island sipping on...?

I wish I was on a tropical island right now! But if I was, I would be drinking a strawberry daiquiri! Yum...I could drink one right now! :)


3. My favorite lip product for the summer...

If you've seen my drugstore haul, you know I got one of the new baby lips. I have been wearing that almost every day since I got it!! But before I got that one, I was using the peach baby lips with some lipgloss...Revlon Bellini or NYX Vanilla Cream Pie.


4. It's a sunny day, do I spend the day by the pool or down by the beach?

The beach!!! I love going to the beach! I have fair skin, so I get burnt REAL easy, so I don't like to stay on the beach too long. But I do really enjoy being at the beach!


5. My must-have styling product for the crazy summer hair?

I always use Ion Leave-In Conditioner, but other than that I don't use many products during the summer. I don't style it too much because with the humidity it gets frizzy and poofy and just crazy! But since visiting Stacie I started using Argan Oil. She uses the Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal, but I have Organix Moroccan Argan Oil. I love both of them and would recommend either! I have been using the Moroccan Argan Oil every day on my ends. I love it!


6. Sunbathing or Fake Tan?

Definitely sunbathing. Fake tan just does not work for me. Since I'm so fair, it just looks so unnatural. Obviously fake tan is much better for you, but it just does not look right on me! Plus, I have freckles and I like them, so sunbathing brings them out! :)


7. My favorite summer nail polish?

I have used Essie Playdate so much this summer! Purple is my favorite color and Playdate is the perfect shade of purple! I have used it on my fingers and toes and have just been loving it!! I also recently bought Boom Boom Room from Essie (thanks to Stacie!). It's a beautiful hot pink! I have it on my fingers and toes right now!


8. Summer traditions?

Every summer since I was little I always went to the beach with my family. As I've gotten older I've gone with my friends. I started a new tradition last summer of going to North Carolina to visit Stacie! :)


9. My favorite summer scent?

I'm obsessed with all Juicy Couture perfumes! I kind of collect them! LOL! I have the original Juicy Couture, Viva La Juicy, Couture Couture and while in NC I got a sample of Viva La Juicy Noir. I love them all!!!! I wear them all year round and take turns with them! :)


10. BBQ time - what do you have?

I love BBQs in the summer! They're always so much fun but I always end up eating wayyyyyy too much!!! I love hot dogs and pasta salad and chips and veggies with dip! I actually could probably go on and on but I'll stop there! :)  oh and can't forget some blueberry pie!!!!!


11. Summer proof product? What is vital to me?

I am obsessed with Urban Decay's All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray! I use it all the time and can really notice a difference. I don't ever skip it with my makeup routine!


12. What are my plans?

Well I already did many things this summer! I went to the beach for a girls weekend with a few of my closest friends from college! And as you all know I went to North Carolina! As of now I have no more plans for the summer...except to celebrate my birthday at the end of this month!!! :)

High End Makeup Haul {Vacation Edition}

Hello Beauties!

If you saw my drugstore haul post then you know this one is coming!!! Stacie and I not only went to the drugstore, but we went to MAC, Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom Rack and Urban Outfitters (it was my first time there and I had no idea they sold makeup!)

so excited for all of these!!!!

Let's start with MAC! I do have three other MAC products but those were given to me as gifts over the years, so these were my first purchases! I'm super excited about them!!!!

Cremesheen Lipstick--Japanese Maple; $15.00

 I have been wanting to try a lipstick from MAC and I did a lot of research on different colors. I usually wear a more nude lip, so I wanted something like that. I knew I wanted to look at Angel, Creme d'Nude and Crème Cup. I tried them all and there was just something about them that didn't look quite right. Then I saw Japanese Maple! I tried it on and I loved it! Even the girl helping us said it looked the best! I'm so happy I bought this color, I absolutely love it!

Mineralize Blush--Dainty; $25.00

I also wanted to get either a blush or a mineralized skin finish. I heard a good review about this blush and when I saw it I fell in love! It's so beautiful! Needless to say, I'm happy with my MAC purchases! :)


On to Sephora!!

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil--Zero; $19.00

Every time I go into Sephora (or Ulta) I am always pulled over to Urban Decay! One of the things I always look at are the 24/7 liners. I love looking at all the pretty colors! I always swatch them and love the way they feel, but I never wanted to pay the price for them. But this time I decided it was time to splurge! I got the black one because I wear black eyeliner on my bottom water line almost every day.  So I figured I would try that one out first and then maybe buy a color one! I haven't used it yet but I'm so excited to!

Sephora Flashy Liner Waterproof--Flashy Blue; $3.00

This is such a pretty blue eyeliner! I don't really wear many bold colors on my eyes, but I had to have it! So pretty and smooth, plus it was only $3!!!

Ulta is up! I didn't get any "high end" products, but I don't consider these items "drugstore" either.

Last week Ulta was having a sale on all their products (I'm not sure if the sale is still on). I love both of these colors, I think they are so beautiful! I feel like these two colors mixed together would be a dupe for Sin from Urban Decay. I'm super excited to use these, especially since I have been doing a lot of neutral eyes lately! And they were only $2 each! SCORE! :)

Khroma Beauty Joystick--Babydoll; $8.99

Now I haven't heard the best reviews on Khroma products, but I have heard good things about the joysticks. I've been trying to use different colors on my lips...normally I just go for a nude color. So I wanted to try this baby pink color!  It's really creamy and so far I like it!!

NYX Lipliner Pencil--Dolly Pink; $3.49

I have been wanting a pink lipliner so figured this one would work! I was hoping it would be a perfect match to the Khroma Joystick, but not exactly. But oh well! It still works!

First off, I love the packaging! My favorite color is purple, so anything that has purple in it I automatically love it! Second, it's normally $38!!!! They were selling it for $12!!! And third, these colors are absolutely beautiful! I'm so excited to create different eye looks with all of these amazing colors! I also am very excited that Sin is in the palette! I have the Naked 2 so I don't have Sin, but have been wanting it, but just didn't want to pay $18 for a single eye shadow. So excited for this!!! :)

Last but no least...Urban Outfitters! Like Nordstrom Rack, I have never been to Urban Outfitters. Like I said before..I didn't know they sold makeup!

I have never worn a matte lip before but I thought these colors were so pretty! They are so creamy and feel so nice on the lips. My favorite one is Addis Ababa..that looks the best on my pale skin! :)
